The ALPINE ANGUS StoryAlpine Angus is a family focused Angus stud committed to high quality Angus cattle backed by strong performance and genetic diversity. The stud is owned by Jim and Clare Delany. Jim is the nephew of Willie and Joanne Milne, who manage and control all day to day farming operations at Alpine Angus. Willie has over 30 years experience and direct involvement in Angus cattle in Australia, including 13 years as manager at Tibooburra and, for the last 10 years, at Alpine Angus. He is a member of the Victorian State Committee of the Angus Society. Willie has a strong background and knowledge of the Angus breed and genetics both here and overseas. He combines that knowledge and a keen eye with reference to performance recording data available both in Australia and overseas to ensure Alpine Angus is at the forefront of the breed in Australia. Jim and Clare are not involved on a day to day basis in the management and operation of the stud but, together with Willie and Joanne, are directly involved in major decisions and liaise closely with Willie and the Alpine Angus staff, Tim Brown and David Burrowes. Tim and David are valued and reliable members of the Alpine Angus team.Alpine Angus farms 850 acres; 240 acres at Porepunkah at the foot of Mount Buffalo in north east Victoria and 610 acres 15 kilometres away at Rosewhite. Willie and Joanne live at Porepunkah. David Burrowes is primarily involved in work at Porepunkah, both with the cattle and 15 acres of grapes grown and sold for wine production. Tim and Melissa Brown live at the Rosewhite property where the stud sale complex is located. Alpine Angus runs over 200 mature age breeding females. Each autumn, we have an on-farm bull and female sale and, during the balance of the year, bull and females are available for private sale. By continued investment and re-investment, the stud has built up and maintained a broad genetic base. We have done so using select donor cows, both bred by Alpine Angus and purchased and by selecting quality sires with strong genetics, leading performance and sound structure and temperament for use in the herd. Please contact Willie or Tim to arrange to inspect the farm and the stud herd. On farm accommodation is available on the Porepunkah property at The Kilns.
